Architects
and contractors review drawings and the
project's progress on site in Cross Campus Library.
Bricks are in place for workers to use in
the Cross
Campus Library.
Cross
Campus Library support columns are faced with
brick, adding the first of several new finishes to the
old library.

The
renovation has removed the two awkward staircases
in the Cross Campus Library. Structural support is in
place to fill the resulting openings.

Supports
are in place to create the two-storey open
study areas in the Cross Campus Library.

The
tunnel connection at the Sterling Memorial
Library and Cross Campus Library is ready for
its facelift.

Work
continues on building the foundation for the new
elevator in the Sterling Memorial Library.

Steel
supports have been installed to fill the hole
created by removal of the staircase in the Nave.

Tiles
are installed in the new restrooms in Sterling
Memorial Library.

Drywall
has arrived and will soon be installed in this area
to create the new Document Delivery Department office
suite.

Studs
and partitions are in place for the room dividers
in the Document Delivery office suite.

Studs
are in place to define the offices in the new "Room 2
Extension" for Access Services staff.

The
present view looking out of the "Room 2 Extension"
still requires some imagination to visualize the new
Sterling Memorial Library reading area, but work
continues to construct these spaces.

The
Teaching & Learning Experimental Space in the Nave,
fitted with a SmartBoard is just about ready to use.

One
challenge from the Phase2a Renovation project is to relocate
"vintage" furniture designed in the early days o
f the Sterling Memorial Library. Special movable stations
such as these were used by cataloguers to edit cards.
Some will be rescued and placed in the new space room
in the basement where the Name-Title catalog cards are
housed and will be available again in coming months for
staff and researchers to access.
