Phase 2 Renovations

Preparing to open Sterling Memorial Library

The old "Machine City" basement area has been transformed...

...looking much larger without the staircase and vending
machines in the center.

Document Delivery Offices are framed with wood millwork.

Document Delivery work area is created with new partitions.

Shelves have been installed for the Cross Campus Library pre
-sorting area in the Room 2 Extension, to be used during Phase 2a renovation.

Two Offices for Access Services staff have been built in the
Room 2 Extension space.

Exit signs are well positioned in the basement
to direct people
out one of two Emergency routes
-- up the staircase near the Periodical Reading
Room or, as shown here, to the hallway near
Room 2 Extension.

Final touches are being put in place to prepare
the restrooms and nearby
drinking fountains.

New Restrooms will be open Wednesday.

In the Cross Campus Library, work on the
mechanical room has opened old walls.

Outside Cross Campus Library the old stairs to
the light wells have been removed.
