Phase 2 Renovations

The Sterling Memorial Library stairwell and interior spaces
continue to unfold (cont)

This pavilion, built out of block, will be finished with
stone that matches the surrounding Collegiate-Gothic
buildings. It will have this indented suggestion of a
window, and will house the elevator shaft.

The pavilion will have an arch that will connect
the elevator shaft (surrounded by stone) and
the pass through to the open stairs nearby.

This stairwell, identically duplicated on both side of the
exterior entry to the Cross Campus Library will soon be
finished in brick and sandstone trim.

On the opposite side of the Cross Campus, the stairwell
entrance to the library will not have a pavilion. Behind
the short wall surrounding the stairwell, bike racks will
be added.

The beautifully restored wall for Berkeley College is a
backdrop for the returned benches and new plantings,
as well as some temporary flower pots placed here for
Commencement.

Shown here, are more temporary flower pots, placed
along the sand-stone topped walls of the Cross Campus
Library light wells (formerly the exterior entrances).

These pots will be replaced by architecturally designed
benches before the project is complete.
