This series is a collection of fairly extensive essays, with bibliographies, about major European authors from the Middle Ages to the 20th Century.

Gale Literary Databases
Includes Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism Select (CLC Select) and Dictionary of Literary Biography (DLB), which can be searched together or separately. Altogether nearly 100,000 authors are covered, with information on their lives and works along with critical reaction to their works.

Oxford Classical Dictionary
