Vol. 1-16, covering the sciences, are in the Kline Science Library, Vol. 17-32
cover the social sciences and humanities, Vol. 29-30 being devoted to language
and literature. Vol. 33-37 are an author index. The first 32 volumes form a
computer generated subject index based on keywords from dissertation titles.
The indexes aim to list all dissertations accepted at American universities
and also include those of some foreign universities. Annual supplements keep
the listing as complete and up-to-date as possible.
Dissertation
Abstracts International (Ann Arbor, MI: University Microfilms International,
1861- ).
Lists Dissertations accepted for the Ph.D. and other doctoral degrees by American
and Canadian degree-granting institutions. Dates of coverage are 1861 to the
present. Coverage is identical in all formats, although the CD-ROM and online
versions of the database do not include abstracts for dissertations prior to
1981. Issued in three parts after 1969:

Yale dissertations are kept by Manuscripts & Archives in the Sterling Memorial Library. For dissertations written at other institutions, check Orbis for the author name. Sometimes dissertations are published later as books, and occasionally the title will differ somewhat from the original title.
