1. Reference Sources/Multimedia Projects

Reference sources (dictionaries, encyclopedias, guides, etc.) are excellent sources of cast, crew, and production information. This is just a sampling of the numerous Film Reference sources available in the SML Main Reference Room and on the Internet. The Research Guide in Film Studies lists many more reference sources.

The Multimedia projects listed here provide interesting examples of Close Analysis of Film in multimedia format.

2. Finding Criticism and Films

Finding scholarly criticism and copies of films or other materials that Yale does not own can be a daunting task. Use Orbis and Eureka to locate books and use these periodical indexes (divided by Film, Arts, Literature, Philosophy, and General Humanities indexes) to locate articles. The periodical indexes are located in the SML Main Reference Room, in the SML CD-ROM Reference Center, and online via the Research Workstation (under Databases and Electronic Journals).
