An international interdisciplinary index to the literature of the arts and humanities, indexing the contents of about 6,100 journals, covering about 1,000 fully and about 5,100 selectively. Those selectively covered are titles in the sciences and social sciences indexed by Science citation index and Social sciences citation index, from which articles of possible interest in the arts and humanities are drawn. Published in three parts:
* Citation Index (through which you can find what later articles have cited earlier books or articles)
* Source Index (an author index)
* Permuterm Subject Index (which offers keyword access to the titles of articles)
The database covers 1975 to the present.

Essay and General Literature Index (EGL) is a bibliographic database that cites essays and articles contained in collections of essays and miscellaneous works, rather than in journals, published in the United States, Great Britain, and Canada. More than 300 volumes are indexed annually. Additionally, more than 20 annuals and serial publications are indexed. EGL also provides full bibliographic information on collective titles indexed. EGL focuses on the humanities and social sciences, with subject coverage ranging from economics, political science, and history to criticism of literary works, drama, and film.

Humanities Abstracts is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles from 400 English-language periodicals in the fields of archaeology and classical studies, art, dance, drama, and film, folklore, gender studies, history, journalism and communications, language and literature, literary and political criticism, music and performing arts, philosophy, and religion and theology. Periodical coverage includes some of the best-known scholarly journals and numerous lesser-known but important specialized magazines.

A classed bibliography with a subject index which includes citations to articles on a broad range of medieval (450-1500 A.D.) subjects from over 800 journals and many collected works (Festschriften, conference proceedings, and collected essays). The geographic area of coverage includes all of Europe and the Middle East "...for those areas subsequently controlled by Christian powers; it thus includes... non-European parts of the Byzantine Empire." (Introduction).

The bibliography covers relevant secondary material published from 1700 to the present. This material consists of both printed literature and matter in other media.
JSTOR: the journal storage project
This project has undertaken to digitize the articles in selected scholarly journals in several disciplines and to make them searchable and readable on the World Wide Web. While, then, not technically a periodical index, JSTOR provides searchable access to the full text of individual journals over the complete history of their publication. Those of interest to religion are currently in the field of history and include the American Historical Review (v.1-94, 1895-1989); the Journal of American History ( v.51-76, 1964-1990); the Journal of Modern History (v.1-62, 1929-1990); the Mississippi Valley Historical Review (v.1-50, 1914-1964)(continued by the Journal of American History); Speculum: A Journal of Mediaeval Studies (v.1-64, 1926-1989); and the William and Mary Quarterly (Series 1: v.1-27, 1892-1919; Series 2: v.1-23, 1921-1943;Series 3: v.1-46, 1944-1989)

The MLA Bibliography indexes critical materials on literature, languages, linguistics, and folklore.The database (online and CD-ROM) provides access to citations from over 4,000 journals and series published worldwide, as well as books, essay collections, working papers, proceedings, dissertations, and bibliographies published since 1963. The print edition (SML, Main Reference Room Z7006 M63 (LC) extends indexing coverage back to 1921.

List of history titles in PCI
An index to the contents of thousands of periodicals in the humanities and social sciences, from their first issues (which in some cases was in the 17th century) to 1995. The scope is international, including journals in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and other Western languages. Although not offering access by subject headings, as do most indexes, PIO does offer keyword searching, and it's possible to limit the results of searches to individual subject areas, such as religious studies. Provides links to online full text.

A circulating library, from Poetical Sketches of Scarborough, 1813 Charles Dickens, 1812-1870, probably the best-known and, to many people, the greatest English novelist of the 19th century. A moralist, satirist, and social reformer, Dickens crafted complex plots and striking characters that capture the panorama of English society. Florence Nightingale was born on 12 May YUL035170 at the Villa La Columbaia in Florence; she was named after the city of her birth. Queen Victoria, the daughter of the Duke of Kent and Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg, was born in 1819. She inherited the throne of Great Britain at the age of eighteen, upon the death of her uncle William IV in 1837, and reigned until 1901, bestowing her name upon her age.
