This bibliography lists and classifies more than 10,300 writings in thirty-three languages on the life and thought of Antonio Gramsci (b. Ales, Oristano, Jan. 22, 1891 - d. Rome, April 27, 1937.) The complete work is now available on the World Wide Web, along with electronic copies of the five published Newsletters of the International Gramsci Society, edited by Joseph Buttigieg of the Dept. of English at the University of Notre Dame. The site also contains links to the sites of the Fondazione Istituto Gramsci and to those of other relevant organizations. This electronic version of the BG is a combined edition of the two printed volumes. It contains a new Introduction and a number of revised lists or appendices including a Help File; the Number of Entries by Languages of Publication; the Number of Entries by Year of Publication (both by Year and by Five-Year Periods); an Index of Names and Subjects (58 pages long in its printed version); and Indexes of Reviews. Those interested in Italian history and politics will be able to select and print out titles of publications on any name, subject, or geographic area mentioned in the entire database.
