A repository for access to the searchable finding aids for all of Yale's manuscript and archival collections.

In the United States

ArchivesUSA

Three major information resources are integrated in ArchivesUSA:

• Resource 1: A newly compiled directory of manuscript repositories, giving full addresses, including e-mail addresses and URLs, opening hours, and details of holdings and areas of special interest. This directory updates and supersedes the Directory of Archives and Manuscript Repositories in the United States (DAMRUS) last published in 1988.
• Resource 2: Collection records from the National Union Catalogue of Manuscript Collections (NUCMC). Information gathered and compiled by the Library of Congress from the 1950s to the end of 1995, covering some 75,000 collections. Each record also includes LC's subject and name indexing of the collection. ArchivesUSA is the only source that makes all of NUCMC fully searchable in electronic form.
• Resource 3: Names and detailed subject indexing of over 42,000 collections whose finding aids have been published separately in the major microfiche series, National Inventory of Documentary Sources in the United States (NIDS).

Eureka and WorldCat Search Guide

The bibliographic database of the Research Libraries Group, with membership composed of about 150 major research libraries, archives, and museums in the United States, Canada, and -- increasingly -- the rest of the world as well. Although a shared database of records of materials in all formats, it is the primary online resource for identifying and locating manuscript and archival materials in the United States. To limit searches to just this type of material, begin your session with the SET LIMIT MAT AMC command; if you're searching Eureka on the Web, you must perform an initial search and then LIMIT to manuscript or archival material by clicking on the Limit button.

Selected Sanskrit manuscripts in the Wellcome Institute, London

This site supports the online ordering of copies of Sanskrit manuscripts held in the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine in London. The Wellcome Institute's collections range beyond the subject interest its name implies, so there are manuscripts of religious interest included here. Full descriptions of each manuscript are not included online but are available in D.
