Major Microform Collections: Title Index

This guide lists and describes Yale's major research collections in microform, housed for the most part in the Microform Reading Room in Sterling Memorial Library. Excluded from this listing are works by single individuals, library catalogs, and collections too narrow in scope to be considered major. All the microform materials described here should be listed in the Microform Reading Room card catalog as well as in Orbis or the Sterling public card catalog; unless labeled otherwise, they can be found in the Microform Reading Room.

The collections are listed by main entry, and each description includes place of publication, publisher, and date, the number of reels, fiche, or microprints, and the film, fiche, or microprint call number. An annotation accompanies each record, as well as a note identifying available guides or indexes and providing their locations and call numbers.

To identify materials not included in this guide or to find newly acquired materials, researchers should seek assistance from a reference librarian. For an alternative source of information, users may also browse the Guide to the Microform Collections in the Humanities and Social Sciences Division of the Library of Congress. Descriptions adopted from the Library of Congress Guide are indicated by [LC].

Notice to Prospective Users

We regret that staffing levels do not permit us to accept individuals’ requests for look-ups or copies. Most microforms circulate via Interlibrary Loan; they are otherwise non-circulating. For information about borrowing, see the Interlibrary Loan Service Lending Policies.

Holders of Yale ID cards –- which are non-transferable -- may use the Microform Reading Room, which is open all the hours that Sterling Memorial Library is, except r. Others may acquire access through the Library's Privileges Office in Sterling.

Researchers should note that some of the microforms are held in the Library Shelving Facility, and same-day access cannot be guaranteed. Holders of Yale ID cards may make advance requests for LSF materials through the web form of the Library's intramural transfer service, Eli Express.
