Media Policies and Processes for LSF(Revised 11 Feb 2005)
There are standard protective cases for most formats, which are used for circulation, transportation between libraries, and shelving media materials at LSF. The formats which have standard cases are VHS videotapes, CDs/DVDs, sound cassettes and 3½" floppy diskettes. Other formats, such as 12" videodiscs and 5¼" floppy disks, require special cases -- contact Preservation/Collection Care to have one created. Media materials should not be in the hard security shells, either while shelved at LSF or when being transported to or from there. Media items should be transported in a temperature-contolled case to slow temperature changes. |
