Tobin is responsible for developing Sterling Memorial Library's research materials on the history, analysis and theory of film, theater, dance, mass media, journalism, cyberculture and related fields. He also acquires the library's graphic novels, and videos of theater and dance performances. Tobin has an Interdisciplinary PhD in Theatre and Drama from Northwestern University, and he has published on theater history and on social and cultural theory.
