The following tools are suggested for finding information related to environmental studies:

Academic Search (EBSCOhost) - an interdisciplinary index covering the basic journal literature, with some full text articles.

Biological Abstracts -- the major life sciences database

CAB Abstracts
Literature references, with abstracts, for publications in agriculture and applied biology research from around the world are found. Plant and animal breeding, horticulture, protozoology, grasslands, soil and dairy science technology, agricultural engineering and economics, rural development, sociology, nutrition, mycology, entomology, parasitology, recreation and tourism are some of the key topics covered.
1973 to present.
NOTE: For earlier years of the forestry portion of CAB Abstracts, use TREECD, with coverage back to 1939.

Environment Abstracts
(Environment Abstracts, Acid Rain Abstracts, Energy Information Abstracts), selected international literature, published and unpublished, on environmental and ecological topics, North American emphasis

GFIS
An Internet gateway to forest information resources from around the world, GFIS users can locate maps, datasets, web resources, journal articles, books and other resources relevant to their forest information needs. This access is through a distributed network of databases. The databases cover the scientific, technical, and social aspects of forestry. There are 47 information providers found throughout the world presently linked through the GFIS search system.

Nexis - an interdisciplinary index to major newspapers.

PAIS - Public Affairs Informaltion Service: a database covering political and legal aspects of the sciences

PolTox - Polution and Toxicology database: database that covers published material in the field of pollution and toxicology, including the detrimental effects of toxic substances and environmental pollution on plants, animals, and humans. The database comprises data from three different sources: a subset of the National Library of Medicine's TOXLINE (TOX) database; several Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA) journals; and a subset of the International Food Information Service's Food Science and Technology Abstracts (FSTA). Years of Coverage: 1966 to present

Water Resources Abstracts

(world's literature on mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, amphibians), continues
