While this page does not provide comprehensive access to government information, it is intended to provide
access to many frequently used government information resources.
Choose the item below that most closely represents your information need:
- Orbis Library Catalog -- contains many U.S. Government documents.
- FirstGov--"For Science" section, for researchers
- FirstGov (Citizen Gateway)-- Government website designed to provide the public with easy, one-stop access to all online U.S. Federal Government
science resources.
- Statistical Abstracts of the U.S. -- selected statistics for entire U.S.
- Lexis-Nexis Statistical--
Searches, at the table level, U.S. Federal Government (1974-present), international intergovernmental
(1983-present), state government and privately published documents (1981-present) that contain statistics.
Use "Search Tables" to find words in and about statistical tables; use "Search Abstracts" for a broader
search of the descriptions about statistical publications. ("Search Abstracts" indexes more publications
than does "Search Tables.") Many tables are available online as images or Excel files. Full text of most
of the publications indexed in LexisNexis Statistical is also available on microfiche in the Government
Documents and Information Center.
- County and City Data Book -- local statistics from census data.
- Catalog of U.S. Government Publications -- index to government reports and journals since 1976.
- Lexis-Nexis Congressional --
LexisNexis Congressional is an online legislative and regulatory service. It provides indexing and
abstracting for congressional hearings, prints, bills, reports and documents. It provides full text
access to congressional bills and resolutions (from 1989), reports and documents, provides bibliographic
information to congressional hearings, and biographical and voting information for members of Congress.
Indexes historical publications, 1789-1969 and unpublished hearings, 1823-1972. It also provides full
text access to the Federal Register (from 1980), the Congressional Record (from 1985), selected
Congressional Research Service reports (1994-2003), and the National Journal (from 1977). It is
especially useful in providing help screens and guides to the legislative and regulatory process.
- GalleryWatch --
a service for searching, analyzing, and tracking U.S. federal legislation and budget information.
- NTIS

bibliographic coverage of U.S. government and worldwide government-sponsored research in many areas including
agriculture, biotechnology, business, communication, energy, engineering, environment, health and safety, medicine,
research and development, science, space, technology, and transportation. There are no other sources as complete
as NTIS for referencing past and current federally funded research. NTIS is the standard in the industry for this
type of information.
