INTRODUCTION
The ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards identifies Standard Three as the ability to evaluate information and its sources critically. This series of lessons introduces a variety of concepts and ideas that fall under that standard.
Objectives: readers of this section will be -
- Able to critically evaluate information sources in a variety of formats for reliability, validity, accuracy, authority, and timeliness.
- Familiar with how to evaluate information.
- Able to recognize prejudice, deception, or manipulation in various sources, and
distinguish among facts, points of view, and opinion.
