Lesson 2: Criteria for Comparing and Evaluating Information and its Sources
Evaluating information and its sources is a critical step in using information. Having learned in Standard 3 Lesson Two about the cycle and structure of inflormation, this lesson describes the criteria for evaluating the accuracy and reliability of information and its sources.
For ease of reading and comprehension, this lesson is divided into three (3) parts:
Part A: Determines probable accuracy by questioning the source of the data, the limitations of the information gathering tools or strategies, and the reasonableness of the conclusions.
Part B: Examining and comparing information from various sources in order to evaluate reliability, validity, accuracy, authority, timeliness, and point of view or bias.
Part C: Criteria for evaluating Webpages
- Learn how to evaluate websites for credibility.
