GENERAL INTRODUCTION

The ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards identifies Standard Five as the recognition of the need to keep current regarding new developments in his or her field. This series of lessons introduces users to a variety of concepts and ideas that fall under that standard.

Objectives: Readers of this section will -
  • Recognize the value of ongoing assimilation and preservation of knowledge in the field.
  • Recognize that information creation and gathering is an ongoing and dynamic process.
  • Develope efficent and effective methods for keeping current.
