Not sure how to find published research in the field of Chemistry?
Confused about the most effective way to use the databases offered
by the Yale Science Libraries? This workshop is for you. We will talk
about refining a research topic, choosing a database, and performing
literature searches. Selected science encyclopedias, dictionaries
and databases (such as: Chemical Abstracts, Science Citation Index
and Current Contents) will be highlighted. These sessions will include:
Introduction to SciFinder Scholar and Beilstein/Gmelin Crossfire

Each workshop will consist of two parts:
Part I: This session will be an introduction to the type of information
found in Chemical Abstracts and how this database can be searched
using the SciFinder Scholar interface. We will talk about performing
a search for information on a topic, a specific author and a chemical
substance.
Part II: For users who have not attempted to use the Beilstein/Gmelin
database or for those who are frustrated by its cryptic design, this
session will take you through the steps of logging on; defining a
fact and structure query; displaying answer sets, structures, reactions,
data, and literature citations; and exporting data.
