OVERDUE BOOKS

The due date receipt placed in the book at the time it is borrowed is the Library's official notice that the book will be due on that date, unless it is called back earlier for another reader. Official notice of due dates is available online in Orbis through "Your Library Account". The borrower is responsible for the return or renewal of the book on or before the due date. Fines are assessed beginning the first day the book becomes overdue.

There is NO grace period for fines.

Fine rate is:
$0.50 per day for normal overdue books,
$2.00 per day for books that have been recalled,
$2.50 for books recalled for reserve.

BINDING INFORMATION

ALL ITEMS CHARGED TO THE COMMERCIAL BINDERY WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN APPROXIMATELY TWO TO THREE WEEKS.

If you would like to be notified when an item charged to the commercial bindery is returned to the library, please send email to science.reference[at]yale.edu All items charge to the Bindery Hold Shelf or Bindery Prep Shelf are available and could be used by our patrons except for missing issues. Please ask at the circulation desk. Books and journals that are also charged to the repair shelf could be used with careful instructions. Send comments to science.reference[at]yale.edu

NOTICES

The library sends an online renewal reminder notice one week before a book is due. A final notice, sent three weeks after a book is due, requires the return of the overdue book by a specific date in order to avoid billing for replacement fees which are NON-REFUNDABLE once sent to the Bursar's Office.

If there is no email address, notices are mailed to addresses supplied by university registrars and personnel offices. The reader is responsible for notifying the library promptly of any change in address.

Since the due date appears in each book and is also available in Orbis by viewing "Your Library Account", failure to receive notices does not affect the assessment of fines.

Questions regarding loan periods and status of charged library materials can be directed to the circulation department by phone: 432-3439
OR by electronic mail: kslcirc@yale.edu
