Photocopying Machines
Self-service photocopy machines are located in most Yale science libraries.
The majority of machines in the science libraries, as well as in many other
campus libraries excluding Law and Medical utilize the same company.
CBS Bloom's is a company based in Connecticut and has been in business for
over 20 years. They currently provide copy machines to many locations on campus. Comments
on the effectiveness of the services are welcomed (see contact information
below).
The machines will use the same type of copy cards and CBS Bloom's has agreed
to accept your Copico cards until April 30, 2003.

The cost of copies is still 15 cents each but you can purchase cards which
give you extra copies, thereby reducing the cost of each copy. The cards are as follows:
- $1 = 15 cents/copy
- $5 = 13 cents/copy
- $10 = 10.5 cents/copy
- $20 = 9.5 cents/copy
We will also continue to sell $20 and $40 cards to Yale Departments through accounting
transfers and will need a department's charging instructions to do so. These cards can
be purchased at the SML circulation desk, the Kline Library, the Engineering Library,
the Chemistry Library, the Divinity Library, the Social Science Library and the Library
Business Office.
Card readers will also be installed on the microfilm reader-printers. Those copies
will continue to cost $.20 per copy.
If a machine needs service, you can call the number located on the front of each
machine (800-648-4236), identify yourself, the Yale University Library, the
location of the machine and the machine number (also located on the front of the
machine begins with a B), and the problem.
We hope to make the transition as smooth as possible but we realize there might
be some problems or questions. You can email Susan Jaffe at susan.jaffe@yale.edu
or Debbie McGraw at deborah.mcgraw@yale.edu or you can call at 432-0586 with questions.
Yale readers
who make use of photocopying facilities are expected to abide by the regulations
of the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code).
Any violations of the Copyright Law at self-service machines are the responsibility
of the reader and are not the responsibility of the Yale University Library.
