The highest priorities for the science libraries are to:

-Improve research methods instruction for special audiences such as laboratory groups, graduate students, and science classes (critical thinking approach)
-Ensure timely and efficient copy cataloging of science materials
-Continue to strengthen our ties with our clientele
-Provide copies rapidly of journal articles needed by the Yale scientific community by decreasing interlibrary loan turnaround time
-Train and develop staff
-Insure a safe, healthy workplace
A high priority ongoing activity is to maintain current hours of operation in science libraries. Basic services such as reference, circulation, shelving, acquisition and processing of library materials will also be continued at their current level. Our collections policies will concentrate on maintaining the focus and relevance of collections, by consulting with faculty and students and by carefully tracking usage of our collections and selecting only those materials likely to be used.
