Personal bibliographic software for researchers
Andy Shimp (Engineering Librarian) and David Stern (Director of Science
Libraries) have received a SCOPA grant to develop a demonstration facility
(set of workstations) to help researchers determine the most appropriate
bibliographic database software package(s) for their personal office, lab,
and classroom needs. They will create parallel databases of similar data
elements to show the strengths and weakness for each software product in
relation to specific information storage and retrieval needs.
Example software products will include:
- EndNote
- Reference Manager
- InMagic
- ProCite
- Access
The data elements will be downloaded from a selection of the Yale
bibliographic databases (Compendex, Current Contents, etc).
Researchers will be able to review these standard uses, and in addition,
explore the many other possibilities provided for storage and retrieval of
non-bibliographic data.
