Present: Eileen Smith (Chair, recording), Michael Forstrom, Marsha Garman, Kevin Glick, Este Pope

1. Minutes approved with corrections.
2. After checking our schedules, and those of Diane Turner and Alice Prochaska, Kevin has scheduled the New Librarians Orientation for May 9, 2006.
3. Recording attendance from the 2006 SCOPA forums presented thus far:
February 6: David Wrobel on American travel literature: 32
March 23: Abdul Hannawi on Migration of Paper 19
March 29: Panel on E-resource management at Yale 53
March 31: Yale/Tufts panel on FEDORA 45
April 5: Gregory Sharrow from VT Folk-life Center 20
4. Updates on future forums:
Patricia Thurston’s forum, scheduled for April 18, has to be rescheduled due to the replacement of carpet in the SML Lecture Hall.
[Rescheduled to May 19, 2-3 p.m., SML Lecture Hall]
5. New forum proposals
Kevin proposed showing an 18-minute documentary on the new National Library of France (BNF). Perhaps offer as a ‘light’ summer forum – brown bag lunch with film and discussion?
A forum on promotion for non-Librarian M&P’s by Diane Turner was presented in March. This is parallel to the one sponsored by SCOPA for Librarian M&P’s in November. In future, SCOPA will be sponsoring this March event as well.
Eileen will work on a forum for September for non-Librarian M&P’s, parallel to the one she is planning for Librarians, on ‘walking promotion candidates and their supervisors through the promotion process’.
6. Bottled water for forums
Yale catering has implemented a delivery charge for orders under a certain amount, such that a $14.00 case of bottled water would end up costing us ca. $50.00. Eileen went to Shaw’s and bought the same amount for $6.00, and was reimbursed from the SCOPA fund. The water is under her desk in SML Technical Services, in the box labeled “SCOPA”.
7. “Guidelines for organizing a SCOPA forum” to be finalized at the next meeting.
8. Next meeting: April 19, 3-4 p.m., SML 410
