Absent: Jennifer Kostelnik
Announcements:
1. Summer meeting times: Tom announced that SCOPA would meet three times during the summer. The next meeting dates are:
June 26
July 24
August 28
All meetings will take place in SML Room 411 at 2:00 p.m.
2. Tom and Dajin reported that a date was finally decided for the joint SCOPA/LMC forum on the library budget after a succession of changes and it would take place on June 21 9:00-10:30 a.m.
Forums:
1. SCOPA Grants Recipients
Erika reported that the preparation for the presentations of the SCOPA grant recipients was well underway. The forum is scheduled to take place near the end of July.
2. Summer Series
Considering the busy activities that SCOPA members are currently engaged in, the originally planned SCOPA summer forum series will be put off to future dates.
3. Fall Series
In regard to the fall series, Stephanie briefly reported the work that she, Jennifer and Dajin had done to date, as Jennifer (chair of the preparation group) was not at the meeting. The group will meet again soon to hash out the details for the fall series. Calvin questioned the design ideas for the second and third open forums of the fall series and suggested having designated speakers to address the critical issues at the forums. It was decided that the next SCOPA meeting on June 26 would focus on the discussion of the fall forum series on scholarly communication and publishing and hopefully generate a more detailed plan for the fall series. Tom asked that Jennifer, Stephanie and Dajin contact people of the advisory group they had identified for more input.
Other:
Tom encouraged the group to think about possible topics and speakers for future SCOPA forums and pay attention to potential speakers during their trip to ALA or other professional conferences.
Stephanie mentioned that Audrey would like SCOPA to help with engaging the library staff to reach out with their colleagues in other research libraries and learn about their experiences in migrating to a new library management system.
Respectfully submitted,
Dajin Sun
