Minutes from 11 February 1997
Attending: Nanette Stahl (chair), Nicole Bouché, Wen-kai Kung, Andrea Lamb, Fred Musto, Manon Théroux
1. New SCOPA members
Announcement was made of the following appointments to SCOPA for
1997-98: Raquel Cogell, Gillian Goldsmith, Diane Goldenberg-Hart,
Christine Weideman. Continuing members for 1997 are Nicole
Bouché, Andrea Lamb, Fred Musto, and Manon Theroux. Nicole
will serve as chair for 1997.
2. SCOPA Grants
Nanette discussed SCOPA grant recipients who had not turned in
final reports. Need to contact recipients soon to schedule
presentations in March/April; Manon will follow up. Need to identify
tasks and calendar for SCOPA Grants Committee, and request funding
from Diane Turner. It was decided to ask for $5000 again.
3. Transitional meeting
After discussion, date for transitional meeting of old and new
SCOPA members with Scott Bennett was tentatively scheduled for Feb.
24 at 3:00. Nanette suggested outgoing members write a summary report
of their SCOPA experience to Diane Turner and new chair. It was
agreed that a report by the outgoing chair would suffice.
4. YUL Committees
Nicole reported that LMC (Ken Crilly) wanted SCOPA to discuss
problem of lack of up-to-date info on Library committees, charges,
members, etc. Discussion of whether this should be a SCOPA function
or should be the responsibility of Human Resources, and whether such
a list would facilitate discussion of whether this should be a SCOPA
function or should be the responsibility of Human Resources, and
whether such a list would facilitate broader participation in Library
committees.
5. SCOPA Forums
Brief discussion of the effects of construction on use of Lecture
Hall for future SCOPA events, and problems of using alternate
locations. Last Forum, Don Waters on "Archiving Digital Information",
has been rescheduled for Feb.24.
