The committee discussed bringing in an outside speaker in the Fall to address either distance learning or the merging of library departments with informational technology units. Diane, Suzanne, and Xin are investigating and will circulate names of possible speakers to the rest of the committee by mid-July.
After they are hired, the Assistant University Librarian for Technical Services, and the Social Science Library director, will be asked to address SCOPA forums.
At the next meeting, Gillian Goldsmith will lead a discussion about how SCOPA defines a "grant" and whether the definition needs to be broadened. Chris Weideman will fill the vacancy on the Grants subcommittee.
Next meeting will be on September 10, 1998 at 11:30.
