On December 4 at 10:00 A.M., SCOPA will co-sponsor a forum with the Committee on Cataloging Electronic Resources and SQIC entitled "E-Z Access? Ha! : Access to Online Resources at Yale University Library."

On January 11, 2002 in the morning, Hugh Cobbe of the British Library will give a talk entitled "Gifts, Purchases, the Lottery, and the Treasury: Some Personal Reflections on 25 years of Music Acquisitions at the British Library." The exact time of his talk has not yet been determined.

The second forum in the "Librarians Without Borders" series, with Tanja Lorkovic and Rich Richie, will probably take place in late January, after the ALA midwinter meeting. Kim Parker and Uju Mollel were suggested as possibilities for the third forum in the series. Kim attended a World Health Organization meeting in Geneva concerning electronic access to medical journals in countries that cannot afford subscriptions. Uju gave a workshop on health information at a conference on women's issues in Madagascar.

Jae reported that Elaine Koretsky has agreed to broaden her topic to cover the history of paper in general. The date of her forum has not been determined, but it will probably be no earlier than March 2002.

The new date of Audrey Novak's Orbis2 forum (postponed from November 20) has not been determined yet.

GRANTS:
Cindy reported on the activities of the Grants Subcommittee. The Subcommittee met on November 13, in consultation with LMC members Carol Jones and Tanja Lorkovic. Two grant proposals were approved: Jae Williams, Jennifer Weintraub, and Karen Reardon for digitization of ephemera concerning contemporary book artists, and Todd Gilman for research for a book on the English composer Thomas Arne.

The next regular SCOPA meeting is on December 10 at 2:00 P.M.

Alice Prochaska and Diane Turner are conferring regarding the appointment of new SCOPA members. The transition meeting has been tentatively scheduled for December 17, probably at about 2:30 P.M.
