Announcements
The Orientation for New Librarians will take place on Thursday, October 11, 2001. Two handouts were provided the members: List of New Librarians and the preliminary schedule for the Orientation for New Librarians.

Orientation for New Librarians
The List of New Librarians was used to delegate contact assignments for the SCOPA members. SCOPA members will contact their assigned new librarian and invite him or her to the orientation session.

Contact Instructions:
- Encourage them to come to the orientation
- Remind them about when and where it will be held
- Get a Yes or No by October 4, 2001
- Establish a personal contact and plan to meet them at the orientation session
- Be sure that they know how to get to the Sterling Spoon

The Orientation for New Librarians has had a scheduling change. Diane Turner will be present for the session at the beginning and the end of the meeting. Cindy Crooker volunteered to take over the responsibility of introducing the other Library Committees during the session. The final planning for the Orientation for New Librarians will be to arrange for catering.

Forums
The Alice Prochaska forum was well attended and a successful event. A summary of the questions and answers is waiting for final approval. It will eventually be posted on the SCOPA website by Jae Williams. It will be linked from the Forums page.

The PowerPoint presentations from the Symposium on Digital Projects in the Yale Library will soon be converted and made available from the SCOPA website.

The Bill Wallach Grant Forum has been rescheduled to take place on October 19 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. We will be limited to 30-35 attendees as the forum will take place in the Sterling Spoon.

Librarians Without Borders and Continuing Series - As interest from throughout the library community has been expressed, a series is being developed using suggestions and information initiated by the planning for the Librarians Without Borders forum. Ellen Doon and Rochelle Smith will work together to coordinate the details of the series. Our first forum in the series, Librarians Without Borders, coordinated by Calvin Hsu, will take place very soon.

The Jock Reynolds forum is scheduled to take place on November 29, 2001.

Next Meeting SCOPA's next meeting is scheduled for October 15, 2001.
