Finalize SCOPA email to
YUL-Lib
Mary spoke to Diane Turner who clarified SCOPA’s role as
being primarily intended for professional growth, but she added that forums are
inclusive of all staff. With that being said, it was decided that the version
discussed at the previous meeting would be approved for use. The subject line of the email will be “SCOPA
Bulletin”.
There was a suggestion to add a link to the YULIB-L
archive
Orientation update
Overall this was a successful orientation session. Shawn reported that three of the attendees
returned feedback forms with high ratings. Some suggestions for improving the
session included:
Some agenda changes were also suggested:
The next Orientation for New Librarians should occur 3-4 months
from now, and attendees should include the current Kress Fellow, and Caitlin
Tillman, who could not attend the Apr. 2 orientation.
Library School forum: it was suggested that
this event be a reception, rather than a lecture, and there should be a count
or survey of those interested in the library profession among YUL staff. M&PSA could be a co-sponsor of such an
event, and could perhaps help to gauge interest among staff.
New England Voyager Users’ Group and SCOPA sponsorship
responsibility: it was decided that this event may not be appropriate
for SCOPA sponsorship, as its audience includes non-Yale staff. SCOPA could, however, serve as a channel
through which YUL staff could learn about the meeting and the professional
benefits of attendance.
Judy Schiff will talk about the history of
YUL on April 30th at 10:30AM.
Copyright Forum is scheduled for May 12, but
there has been no confirmation.
Scheduling for late May is problematic due to outside
scheduled events. It was suggested that we try to avoid scheduling any more
forums in May.
Grants Forum – this has been confirmed for
June 2.
Forum with Karen Reardon – may be better to
schedule later in the summer. Steve will contact Karen about timing.
The next meeting will be
April 28, 2pm, SML 410
