Mary encouraged openness, creativity, and preserving mutual respect in the meetings.

Forums were discussed.  We want to pick topics interesting to the library as a whole.  Mary stressed the importance of the forums and how we may want to broaden the scope of them to include topics of interest to all levels of staff.  We discussed ways SCOPA could promote its forums and support the strategic objectives of the library through the forums.  Ideas for marketing forums included providing refreshments, alternative formats, having forums outside of SML, and advertising with posters/flyers. Also we discussed sharing the information from forums and placing the text of forums online.

Ideas for topics included:  Asking heads of other libraries in the Yale system to talk about what role their library plays.  Bringing in representatives from other institutions to address other issues in the profession and get a more global perspective.

Ask the AUL’s give informative talks to staff.  Invite representatives from library schools speak as possible interest to C&T’s. Copyright.

We wrote down forums ideas, which Mary will list for future discussion.

The Abe Parrish forum is set for 16 Jan. in SML.
