SCOPA Meeting

Nov. 8, 2004 (1:30-2:00 pm)

Present: Nancy Kuhl, Carla Heister, Daniel Dollar, Poli Chang, Rowena Greim, Abdul Ahad Hannawi.

The following topics were discussed:

New Librarians Orientation Follow Up:

Carla reported that the responses for the survey were very positive.

Grants Program

Nancy will check with Diane concerning the total funds available for grants.

The applications for the grants will be reviewed and decisions concerning the grantees will be announced around Dec. 10.

Forum Planning and Possible Need for Selection Guidelines

SCOPA was able to organize many forums every semester (around 10). Members agreed that is a significant number, taking into consideration the limited time staff have to attend these forums.

Members agreed that at this time it isn’t necessary to develop specific guidelines for topic selection.

Update on Possible Spring Forums

Rowena reported that a representative of Anna-Amelia Library will come give a talk in the spring.

Nancy offered to contact Nancy Pearl about the possibility of her making a visit to Yale when she is on the east coast for ALA mid winter meeting.
