Report to LMC on past SCOPA activities:

Pending and possible forums:

A. Suzanne will attempt to arrange a panel of past SCOPA grant recipients for a presentation in April. Suzanne will use this opportunity to encourage those SCOPA grant recipients who have not yet submitted their final reports to do so at this time. This panel discussion should focus on what recipients have learned from the grant process, what advice they have for future applicants, and what they accomplished as a result of receiving a SCOPA grant.

B. Xin will attempt to arrange a forum with someone from the Yale University Press.

C. Connecticut Center for the Book forum is currently on hold. Suzanne will follow up

D. Jim met with Paul Conway about a possible forum concerning recently published Yale librarians. Paul is very interested in contributing to this project. Dajin and Erika will work on developing a website that will promote the current publications of Yale Librarians. A selected list of librarians will be asked to contribute the first entries in order to get the project off the ground. Dajin and Erika will then contact department heads in order to find out more about the publishing activities of librarians across campus.

E. Angela Kane of the UN Depository Library was suggested as a forum speaker. She has not been approached yet. Jim will follow this up.

F. Elisabeth Fairman has agreed to speak about the renovations at the BAC and the Mellon bequests. Jennifer will follow up.

G. David Stern has volunteered to do a forum on expert systems in the Yale University Science Libraries. It is possible that this forum will take place in May. Jennifer will follow up.

H. The idea of SCOPA sponsored bag lunches was explored. Potential speakers include: Gunta Jeluskina, the Slavic Collection Intern, post professional interns and fellows in the Yale University Library System, international librarians, Curators.

Respectfully submitted,

Jennifer Kostelnik
