I. Announcements.

II. Upcoming forums.

The following SCOPA forums are pending:

A. Forum on DubMed.

Daniel Chudnov will give a presentation on DubMed (a search interface for the PubMed and Entrez databases) in early December. Jim reported that Daniel is interested in presenting two forums: one on the use of the interface and another on the creation of the interface. Discussions between Jim and Daniel on the number of actual sessions are ongoing.

B. Forum on professional development.

Chris led the discussion on the forum for professional development. Tentative dates are Tuesday, Nov. 17 or Thursday, Nov. 19. At the forum, senior librarians from the Yale Library system will talk about their current participation in professional organizations and discuss opportunities they see for participation by other Yale librarians, especially LIs and LIIs.

C. New librarian orientation.

A second New Librarian Orientation, co-sponsored by SCOPA and Library Human Resources, will be held on December 3. Various SCOPA members will contact the new librarians who should attend to personally invite them.

D. Forum by Nancy Roderer.

This forum will take place on Dec. 15 from 3:00-4:30 PM.

III. Discussion on the LMC review of past SCOPA grants.

Discussion centered on the recent exchanges between LMC and SCOPA on the state of SCOPA library grants. Data provided by Gillian was reviewed. It was concluded that further investigation is necessary and that discussion will continue at the next SCOPA meeting.

IV. Further announcements.

There will be only two more meetings of the committee this year.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19 at 11:30 AM.
