SCOPA Meeting Minutes


Minutes from 5 September 1997

A: Homepage -

1. Unavailable minutes will be identified as such.

2. The meeting page is done and arranged with Sterling first and other sites alphabetical.

3. Proposed to mount a summary of the SCOPA annual report.

4. Proposed to mount past years' programming - first to do the current then a retrospective.

Web design.

Diane reported that front page has been condensed and streamlined to one screen and the links go to separate pages. There is a new GIF file - a large one for the front page and a smaller version for sub pages.

B: Fall and Winter Programs

1. Editorial projects have been contacted to set dates mid to late October.

2. Call for papers - Presentation of papers by individuals engaged in activities outside Yale.

3. Special Collections Fair for Library Staff - 2 hrs in the afternoon. no formal presentation.

C: Digital Library Federation

Proposal to contact Don Waters to give a talk, possibly in late January

D: Promotion Review

Proposal to invite Scott Bennett to talk about his expectations and criteria for promotion followed by Question and Answer.

OR

Open up the meeting geared to people currently going up for review.

E. The Finding Aids project presentation will be done when the software is in place on public machines in SML.

F. Proposal to ask Richard Benson to speak to the issue of the impact of digital technology on the arts.

G: Manon raised the question of providing an orientation session for new staff. It was suggested we do this with M&PSA.

H. Fred Musto was appointed program coordinator.

I: SCOPA Grants

1. Proposals and final reports are on-line

2. Itwas proposed and agreed to that the call for grant proposals would be sent out electronically, and submitters are also required to provide their proposals and final reports in electronic form.

3. Revised guidelines are on the web site

J: Committee Survey

Gillian asked what was to be include. What committees? What categories of information. It was decided that there are probably 15 to 25 core committees that should be represented. Gillian is building a web front page linking to 1 sub page per committee.
