This page is based on the largest 10 emerging markets or Big Ten,
orginally defined in 1997 by Jeffrey
E. Garten, of the Yale School
of Mangement, as Mexico,
Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, Poland, Turkey, India, Indonesia,
China, and South Korea.
According to Business
Week this list now includes Brazil, Russia, India, and China,
(the Big Four also know as BRIC's) plus Egypt,
Mexico, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, and Turkey. The latter
are the economies featured on this site.
While the list of countries have changed, Mr. Garten's premise
has not:
Ten
big emerging markets, located in every part of the world, will
change the face of global economics and politics...Each big emerging
market is an individual country; but it is the combined effect
of the group as a whole that will have a critical impact on American
interests at home and abroad.
