U.S. Federal government. The International Trade Library (ITL) contains
over 4,000 documents from a variety of Federal agencies that provide new-to-market
exporters with a wealth of procurement-, commodity-, industry-, country-,
and region-specific information, in addition to general trade overviews
and 'How To' guides. Balance of Payments Statistics (BOPS) Available at the Social Science Library workstations 10, 11 & 12, the BOPS is a statistical product of the International Monetary Fund and corresponds to the printed Balance of Payments Statistics Yearbook (BOPSY). Request the most current data cd from closed reserve at the circulation desk (HG3881 B3421 (LC)). BOPS offers annual & quarterly aggregate and detailed time series; balance of payments and international investment position data for countries; world and regional tables of balance of payments components and aggregates. Part one includes country tables with annual time series data for direct investment, including direct investment abroad, foreign direct investment within each host country, portfolio investment and more. The printed Balance of Payments Statistics Yearbook (BOPSY) is also located in SSL in the Reference Section (HF1014+I5). Provides access to 272 economic series in 115 countries. The data go back to 1980 and forecasts to 2003. The variables given for each country are divided into the following categories: Economic structure, Foreign payments, External debt stock, External debt service, External trade, Trends in foreign trade, and Quarterly indicators. Download data to spreadsheets. Published by the Economist Intelligence Unit, EIU Country Reports are quarterly publications covering current political and economic events for over 180 countries. Each report offers a concise, well written analysis of the economic and political situation, as well as economic projections for 58 of the world's largest economies. Reports also include statistical tables for direction of trade, balance of payments, price indices, foreign direct investment, government finance, and other macroeconomic indicators. An excellent starting point for any student investigating political or economic conditions at the country level. International Surveys: Foreign Direct Investment in the United States Comprehensive data covering the operations of foreign companies in the United States. Presents detailed data on the number, employment, payroll, and shipments or sales of foreign-owned companies, by detailed industry at the state level. Includes country level data for Canadian, French, German, British and Swiss companies, as well as comparisons of foreign-owned and U.S. establishments. A joint publication of the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the Bureau of the Census, the publication lends itself readily for comparison of establishment data from the Economic Census. Includes basic data on transnational corporations, background information on the legal framework and investment climate within each country, foreign direct investment time series flows dating from 1970, geographical distribution of foreign direct investment, and industrial distribution of direct investment stock.
