Selected Print and Online Resources This list of selected print and online resources is organized by the primary Library of Congress subject heading assigned to each title. Orbis, Yale University Library's online public access catalog, can be searched by these and other subject headings (as well as author, title, and keyword) to find more english language or international resources. Search for more titles in Orbis using Social Sciences--Statistics as your subject. A Selection of General Social Sciences Databases Book Review Digest Plus, produced by the H.W. Wilson Company, is a bibliographic database that cites and provides excerpts of reviews of current English-language fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults. An abstract of each book is also provided. Periodical coverage includes approximately 109 leading magazines from the United States, Canada and Great Britain. To be indexed in Book Review Digest, a book must have been published or distributed in the United States or Canada. A work of nonfiction must have received reviews in two or more of the periodicals on the Book Review Digest selection list. A work of fiction must have received reviews in at least three of the periodicals. An exception is made for books reviewed in the Reference Books Bulletin section of Booklist. For these books one review is sufficient. Reviews must have appeared within 18 months after a book was published, and at least one review must be from a periodical published in the United States or Canada. Reviews of textbooks, government publications, and technical books in the law and sciences are excluded. In addition, book reviews from the following Wilson indexes are also included: Applied Science & Technology Full Text, Art Full Text, Biological & Agricultural Index Plus, Education Full Text, General Science Full Text, Humanities Full Text, Index to Legal Periodicals & Books, Library Literature & Information Science Full Text, Readers' Guide Full Text, Social Sciences Full Text, and Wilson Business Full Text. Current Contents Connect database provides access to the tables of contents and bibliographic data from current issues of the world's leading scholarly research journals and books in the sciences, social sciences, and arts and humanities. Cover-to-cover indexing of journal articles, book reviews, meeting abstracts, editorials, etc., is provided for more than 8000 international journals covering nearly 200 disciplines. Complete bibliographic information, including English-language author abstracts (for approximately 85% of articles and reviews in the science editions), author keywords, KeyWords Plus ®, and ISSNs are provided. Email alerts for articles matching saved search strategies are available. Essay and General Literature Index Essay and General Literature Index (EGL), produced by The H.W. Wilson Company, is a bibliographic database that cites essays and articles contained in collections of essays and miscellaneous works published in the United States, Great Britain, and Canada. More than 300 volumes are indexed annually. Additionally, more than 20 annuals and serial publications are indexed. EGL also provides full bibliographic information on collective titles indexed. EGL focuses on the humanities and social sciences, with subject coverage ranging from economics, political science, and history to criticism of literary works, drama, and film. ICPSR (Inter-university Consortium of Political and Social Research) The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), at the University of Michigan, is an integral part of the infrastructure of social science research. ICPSR maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction, and offers training in quantitative methods to facilitate effective data use. Faculty, students and staff on the Yale network may download data directly from ICPSR. International Bibliography of the Social Sciences International Bibliography of Social Sciences, from the British Library of Political and Economic Science of the London School of Economics and Political Science, indexes the information contained in over 2,600 social sciences journals and 6,000 books each year. Coverage includes both core and specialized material from over 100 countries in more than 90 languages. Approximately 70% of the records are in English, and articles in other languages are displayed with both the original language title as well as with an English translation. The comprehensive coverage provided in the database, while based on the core disciplines of anthropology, economics, political science and sociology, also reflects the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of the social sciences. About 100,000 citations are added to the database each year. PAIS (Public Affairs Information Service) PAIS International covers the literature of public affairs including political, economic and social issues. It contains references to articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, research reports, conference reports and publications of international agencies. Publications from more than 60 countries are included. Materials indexed are in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. Social Science Full Text is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles of at least one column in length from more than 415 English-language periodicals published in the United States and elsewhere plus the full text of selected periodicals. Coverage includes a wide range of interdisciplinary fields covered in a broad array of social sciences journals. Subjects covered include: addiction studies, anthropology, area studies, community health & medical care, corrections, criminal justice, criminology, economics, environmental studies, ethics, family studies, gender studies, geography, gerontology, international relations, law, minority studies, planning & public administration, policy sciences, political science, psychiatry, psychology, public welfare, social work, sociology, urban studies. Social Science Research Network (SSRN) The Social Science Research Network (SSRN) provides researchers with opportunities for networking worldwide via the following specialized research sub-networks: Accounting Research Network (ARN), Economics Research Network (ERN), Financial Economics Network (FEN), Latin American Network (LAN), and Legal Scholarship Network (LSN) Each of SSRN's networks encourages the early distribution of research results by publishing submitted abstracts and by soliciting abstracts of top quality research papers around the world. SSRN now has hundreds of journals, publishers, and institutions that provide abstracts of accepted papers and working papers for publication in SSRN's email based abstracting journals. SSRN also delivers electronic copies of the full text of papers for authors that wish to deliver their documents over the internet. StatCat: Social Science Data Search StatCat includes information about numeric datasets in the Yale Social Science Data Archive, as well as datasets available in the Yale University Library and on the Internet. Subject coverage includes: public opinion surveys, census data, health data, economic and social indicators, surveys of electoral behavior. Data are available for the United States and foreign countries; datasets may cover a single country or multiple countries. Historical and contemporary data are included. Web of Science collectively indexes more than 8,000 high quality, peer-reviewed journals cover-to-cover, providing users with complete bibliographic data, full-length author abstracts, and cited references from the world's most influential research with online backfiles access now completely matching the print editions:
