General Social Sciences Subject Guide (General Social Sciences Collection Statement)

Selected Print and Online Resources

This list of selected print and online resources is organized by the primary Library of Congress subject heading assigned to each title. Orbis, Yale University Library's online public access catalog, can be searched by these and other subject headings (as well as author, title, and keyword) to find more english language or international resources. For example, the subject search for Social Sciences--Periodicals will generate an index of periodical titles about the General Social Sciences held by the library. Consult the Orbis Help Guide for additional information and search strategies. For more information on survey research resources, view the Public Opinion Subject Guide. Resources on specific social sciences subjects, such as business, Census 2000, demography, economics, education, international affairs, political science, etc. can be found using the Social Sciences Subject Guides.

Book Review Digest Plus

Book Review Digest Plus, produced by the H.W. Wilson Company, is a bibliographic database that cites and provides excerpts of reviews of current English-language fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults. An abstract of each book is also provided. Periodical coverage includes approximately 109 leading magazines from the United States, Canada and Great Britain. Reviews of textbooks, government publications, and technical books in the law and sciences are excluded. In addition, book reviews from the following Wilson indexes are also included: Applied Science & Technology Full Text, Art Full Text, Biological & Agricultural Index Plus, Education Full Text, General Science Full Text, Humanities Full Text, Index to Legal Periodicals & Books, Library Literature & Information Science Full Text, Readers' Guide Full Text, Social Sciences Full Text, and Wilson Business Full Text.
