As of February 11, 2008, a valid Yale ID with prox-card status is required for entrance to the Mudd Library and the
Government Documents and Information Center.
Non-Yale affiliates must obtain a temporary privileges card, from the Privileges
Office, in Sterling Memorial Library, in order to be permitted entrance to the Mudd building.
YUL staff who have arranged for vendor-led training for a single day are
expected to meet guests outside of the Mudd Library and escort
them in. Vendors needing access on multiple days must apply for a temporary
privileges card. Mudd staff are not authorized to make exceptions to the
building entrance policy.
The Seeley G. Mudd Library, a two million volume, high-density, storage library contains collections from other Yale
libraries which have become too crowded to house their entire collections.
The Mudd Library stacks are difficult to browse; however, circulating books and journals can be paged from the Mudd Library and delivered to other Yale libraries for pick-up.
Before coming to the Mudd Library, patrons are encouraged to find the correct Mudd call numbers from Orbis, or from the appropriate school
and department library catalogs.
The Government Documents and Information Center (GDIC), which is
located within the Mudd Library, contains materials from the following depository programs: U.S. Federal, Canadian Federal, European Union, United Nations, and Food and Agriculture Organization documents.
A reading room, photocopiers, scanners, printers, public workstations, and wireless access are available in the GDIC for patron use. phone: 203-432-3203 e-mail: muddcirc@yale.edu location and directions: Mapquest, Google Maps
