Travel directions to Social Science Library (via Mapquest)

Please note: If unfamiliar with the area and resources, the Social Science Library recommends you contact us for specific directions from your locations as well as to ensure the materials and research assistance required will be available upon arrival.

From Downtown New Haven (On foot):

  • Take College Street north to Grove Street.
  • Once you cross Grove, College becomes Prospect Street.
  • Continue on Prospect Street and the Social Science Library will be on your left in less than one quarter mile.

From Downtown New Haven (By car):

  • Take Church Street north to Grove Street.
  • Turn left on Grove Street
  • Then turn right on Prospect Street, which will be at the next traffic light.
  • Follow Prospect Street and the Social Science Library will be on your left in less than one quarter mile.

From Outside New Haven:

  • Take Interstate 95 (from the North or South) to Interstate 91 North (toward Hartford).
  • Take Interstate 91 to Exit 3, Trumbull Street.
  • Follow the exit ramp directly onto Trumbull Street and continue to Prospect Street (the fourth traffic light).
  • Turn right and the Social Science Library will be on your left in less than one eighth mile.
  • There is limited metered street parking (bring quarters) but no parking lot access during regular business hours without a Yale parking sticker.

From Outside Connecticut:

  • New Haven is located on the shore of Long Island Sound.
  • The city is served by Tweed-New Haven Airport, which offers connections through regional hubs.
  • The closest international airports are New York City's LaGuardia and Kennedy airports, Newark International, and Hartford/Springfield's Bradley International.
  • Bus service to New Haven is available at each of these airports.
  • AmTrak has daily service to New Haven's Union Station from Boston and Washington, DC via New York's Penn Station.
  • Metro North has hourly service from New York's Grand Central Station.
  • There is limited metered street parking (bring quarters) but no parking lot access during regular business hours without a Yale parking sticker.
