RESERVE SERVICE OPTIONS:

BOOKS*:Please include call number information from Orbis if available when filling out the Reserve Request Form. For a book the library does not own, the library will attempt to purchase and catalog the book for course reserve as soon as possible.

PERSONAL COPIES*:Faculty may provide personal copies of materials for course reserve. Please indicate in the call number field "faculty copy" on the reserve request form.

VIDEO/AUDIO MATERIAL*:Material used in conjunction with course work may be placed on reserve. SSL has limited video equipment and no audio equipment. We suggest that any video/audio material be placed on 24-Hour reserve so students may take the item out of the library to use.

* Please note: The loan period options for print copies of course reserve material are 2-hours, 24-hours, or 3 days. We suggest 2-hours circulation for print material unless the material is secondary in nature. Electronic course materials have no set loan period within the semester.

JOURNAL ARTICLES:Journal articles may be placed on course reserve. Copyright guidelines will be applied.

BOOK CHAPTERS/SELECTIONS:Chapters or selections from a single book or monograph may be placed on course reserve. Copyright guidelines will be applied.

    3. the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
    4. the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work. The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.
