Development Studies: Statistical Data
FAOSTAT is an online and multilingual database currently containing over one million time series records covering international statistics in the following areas: production, trade, food balance sheets, food aid shipments, fertilizers and pesticides, land area and irrigation, forest products, fishing products, population, agricultural marketing. Large files may be downloaded for further statistical analysis. Presents data on selected regional income and indebtedness for 150 countries and regions, including total debt stocks and flows, major economic aggregates, total external debt, and long-term debt expressed in ratios. Other features include total debt outstanding, undisbursed debt, interest payments, commitments, disbursements, net flows, principal repayments, and currency composition of long-term debt. Data can be downloaded directly into Excel, SAS and other statistical software packages. Internal and External Trade of the EU COMEXT (Internal and External Trade of the EU) provides data on Intra-EU (trade between Member States), Extra-EU (trade between Member States and third countries), Intra+Extra-EU (both), and third countries trade. Software retrieves data from the trade grouping based on 7 parameters: periods, reporting countries, partner countries, products, units of measurement, statistical procedures and flows. Eurostat is the Statistical Office of the European Communities, established in 1953. It gathers and analyzes figures from the different European statistics offices in order to provide comparable and harmonised data. The data cover the European Union, its member states, and its partners. Topics covered include general and regional statistics; economy and finance; population and social conditions; industry, trade, and services; agriculture and fisheries; external trade; transportation; environment and energy; science and technology; employment; public health; research; national accounts; and more. OFFSTATS [Official Statistics on the Web] This resource is maintained by the University of Auckland; it provides links by country and region to official national or international intergovernmental web sites that provide access to statistics. SourceOECD provides access to its publications and statistical databases. Select by publication type "OECD databases" and then select by topic. StatCat includes information about numeric datasets in the Yale Social Science Data Archive, data available to the Yale community from ICPSR, selected datasets available in the Yale University Library, and selected data sources on the Internet. UN Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN COMTRADE) UN Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN COMTRADE) provides commodity trade data for all available countries and areas since 1962. Availability of data depends on in what classification and when comtrade data are reported by countries. Comtrade have all reported data in their original classification and converted data (from original one) to all possible classifications. United Nations Statistics Division Common Database The United Nations Statistics Division Common Database is a database which covers all countries and areas and selected series from more specialized international data sources. From the main menu, you may browse, access and retrieve statistics and look up information on data sources, definitions and classifications. Provides over 500 time series of economic and socio-economic data from more than 230 countries, incorporating data from the World Bank publications World Tables, Social Indicators of Development, World Population Projections, the World Development Report, and the World Bank Atlas. Includes the majority of the information found in the print version of WDI (SSL HC59.15 W656), with some additional indicators and more extensive time series. Text providing commentary, definitions and source notes is also included. |
