The Education Collection at Yale University Library
Housed primarily at the Sterling Memorial Library, the Education Collection is based on the needs of the Yale University Teacher Preparation Program, those studying international education at Yale, and the Yale higher education community at large. Most Education materials fall under the Library of Congress call number schedule L and older Yale classified materials under the range Xk11-81 (housed at the Mudd Library). School psychology materials are found in the BF range and L range. Monographs, serials and electronic resources are selectively collected in areas such as general education, teachers, pedagogy, alternative education, educational research, child study, educational technology, educational psychology, comparative education, educational sociology, educational administration, curriculum studies, and college and university education. The Yale University Library also collects foreign language education materials for scholarly use and study that represent international innovative and seminal research.
Interdisciplinary materials on topics such as the family, social policy and demography are held throughout the Yale University Libraries. Education-related publications of the United States Government, United Nations, European Union and Canadian Government are housed in the Government Documents and Information Center at the Mudd Library. Clinical materials such as tests and assessments are collected and maintained by the Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Medical Library. Of special note is the
Betsy Beinecke Shirley Collection of American Children's Literature
at the Beinecke Rare Book Library. One of the world's largest and most
diverse in scope, this collection is particularly rich in colonial imprints,
nineteenth-century chapbooks, classics of juvenile literature, amateur
journalism, and American illustrators, and includes manuscript material
and original artwork. Return to the Education Subject Guide Content by Judith Carnes |
