Canada British Columbia's History of Education Website A gateway to information about the history of education and schools in British Columbia, this web site has been developed with contributions from teachers and students at British Columbia schools, colleges, and universities, and from independent scholars and writers. Canada's SchoolNet is an educational initiative supported by a variety of organizations across Canada, from government agencies - provincial, territorial, and federal, to industry, and educational establishments and stakeholders. Through the guidance of the SchoolNet National Advisory Board, the Canadian Education Network Coalition, and strong partnerships, SchoolNet helps to facilitate excellence in learning through electronic networking across Canada. Canadian Bureau for International Education The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) is an umbrella non-governmental organization comprised of 200 colleges, universities, schools, school boards, educational organizations and businesses across Canada. Nationally, CBIE engages in policy development, research, advocacy and public information. CBIE is both a leader in shaping Canada's international education agenda and a highly recognized provider of professional development programs for Canada's international educators. CBIE manages vital services for foreign students in Canada. Internationally, CBIE engages in cooperative projects in capacity building, institutional strengthening and human resource development. Our focus is on education at all levels, specialized training programs, civil society and public administration. Canadian Educational Policy and Information Network The Canadian Educational Policy and Administration Network (CEPAN) is a comprehensive on-line database and networking forum promoting informed decision making for elementary and secondary education in Canada. CEPAN is also designed as a comprehensive resource site for information about elementary and secondary educational policy and administration issues in Canada. Mexico National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (Asociacion Nacional de Universidades e Institutos de Ensenanza Superior (ANUIES)) ANUIES is a non-governmental organization that brings together the main institutions of higher education; it has as its mission to promote excellence in teaching, research and the extension of culture and services. It has 138 members, both public and private. Topics in the Digest include: the number of schools and colleges; teachers; enrollments; graduates; educational attainment; finances; federal funds for education; employment and income of graduates; libraries; technology; and international comparisons. ED Pubs On-Line Ordering System This site is designed to help users identify and order U.S. Department of Education products. Options are provided for simple and advanced searches. Additionally, links are provided to the entire U.S. Department of Education web site. Environmental Education Center The Environmental Education Center is a web resource created by the United State Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and contains a collection of fact sheets, brochures, curriculum activities, and projects for teaching students about the environment. Explorers' Club is the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's web site for children ages 5-12. This site uses art, coloring, comics, stories and games to involve children in environmental science. ERIC - Educational Resources Information Center The web site of the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC), a national information system designed to provide users with ready access to an extensive body of education-related literature. ERIC, established in 1966, is supported by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Educational Research and Improvement, and the National Library of Education. Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE) Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE) makes hundreds of Internet-based education resources supported by agencies across the U.S. Federal government easier to find. This site was created by 30 Federal agencies who formed a working group to make hundreds of federally supported education resources readily available. GEM: The Gateway to Educational Materials The Gateway to Educational Materials project is a consortium effort, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education's National Library of Education, to create an operational framework to provide the nation's teachers with "one-stop, any-stop" access to substantial, but uncataloged, collections of Internet-based educational materials available on various federal, state, university, non-profit, and commercial Internet sites. GEM provides access to high quality Internet lesson plans, curriculum units and other education resources. A web site created by the Federal Communications Commission. This site is called the "FCC's Informal Education page" and is designed to inform the public about important FCC policy and education initiatives. Additionally, links are provided to other education sites. National Aeronautics and Space Administration Education Program The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Education Program web site provides current educational information and instructional resource materials to teachers, faculty, and students. A wide range of information is available, including science, mathematics, engineering, and technology education plans, historical information related to the aeronautics and space program, current status reports on NASA projects, news releases, information on NASA educational programs, and useful software and graphics files. Educators and students can also use NASA resources as learning tools to explore the Internet, access information about educational grants, interact with other schools on the Web. National Archives and Records Administration Digital Classroom A web site designed to encourage teachers of students at all levels to use archival documents in the classroom. The Digital Classroom provides materials from NARA, methods for teaching with primary sources, and sample lesson plans. National Center for Education Statistics The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the United States and other nations. NCES fulfills a Congressional mandate to collect, collate, analyze, and report complete statistics on the condition of American education; conduct and publish reports; and review and report on education activities internationally. On Jan. 8, 2002, President Bush signed into law the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). This new law represents his education reform plan and contains the most sweeping changes to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) since it was enacted in 1965. It changes the federal government's role in kindergarten-through-grade-12 education by asking America's schools to describe their success in terms of what each student accomplishes. The act contains the President's four basic education reform principles: stronger accountability for results, increased flexibility and local control, expanded options for parents, and an emphasis on teaching methods that have been proven to work. Smithsonian Education contains classroom-ready lessons and activities, listings of nearly five hundred educational products, and an overview of school tours and professional development programs for teachers. Smithsonian Education is coordinated by the Smithsonian Office of Education (SOE). Statistical Resources on the Web - Education This University of Michigan, Government Documents Center website provides a comprehensive bibliography of Federal Government Education Statistics. The web site of Team Nutrition whose mission is to improve the health and education of children by creating innovative public and private partnerships that promote food choices for a healthful diet through the media, schools, families, and the community. The web site of the U.S. Department of Education. The aim of this site is to provide users with information about the offices and programs of the U.S. Department of Education (ED), education initiatives of the President and the Secretary, the full text of ED reports and publications, and links to organizations supported by the Department. U.S. Department of Education Topics from A to Z A web site that offers a browsable and searchable list of over 400 links to a variety of Department of Education resources. Links range from student achievement, statistics, fellowships, ERIC resources, and more. U.S. Network for Education Information The U.S. Network for Education Information (USNEI) is a national information and referral service designed to assist American educators, students, and parents with access to reliable information about international education and to provide basic information and referral contacts to resources within U.S. education. The goal of USNEI is to provide a focused description and guide to American education and to foreign systems of education in order to facilitate international educational mobility. "The What Works Clearinghouse was established by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences to provide educators, policymakers, and the public with a central, independent, and trusted source of scientific evidence of what works in education. It is administered by the Department through a contract to a joint venture of the American Institutes for Research and the Campbell Collaboration."
