The Psychology Collection at Yale University Library
The Sterling Memorial Library, Cross Campus Library, Social Sciences Library, Mudd Library,
Medical Library, and Library Shelving Facility hold materials that are part of our
Psychology collection. This robust collection contains over 28,500 volumes in print and a
myriad of electronic resources including online journals and electronic psychology
database core resources such as PsycInfo and PsycArticles. The collection includes
monographs and serials on a variety of subject areas such as behavioral neuroscience,
clinical psychology, cognitive, developmental, and social/personality psychology with an
emphasis on scholarly resources. Clinical materials and bibliographic data on tests and assessments
are collected and maintained by the
Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Medical Library. Undergraduate level and high use
materials are held at the Cross Campus Library. In-depth research and historical psychology materials are
available at the Sterling Memorial Library. Most of our psychology journals, excluding
clinical materials, are also found at the Sterling Memorial
Library. Resources on industrial psychology are found at the Social Sciences Library
and the Sterling Memorial Library. Data and statistics are held and maintained
through the Social Sciences Library Social Sciences Data Archive.
Older and low use volumes are held at the Library Shelving Facility and Mudd Library;
all of these materials may be requested via Eli Express.
Mudd Library stacks (38 Mansfield Street) are open to Yale affiliated users.
Most Psychology materials fall under the Library of Congress call number series BF and
older Yale classified materials under range Xk11-81. School psychology materials are found
in the BF range and the L range. Besides our English language volumes, the Yale University
Library collects foreign language psychology materials for scholarly use and study that
represent innovative research internationally.
