David B.

“The Germans ordered Jews from the age of 20 to the age of 50 to work as laborers for the German army outside of Salonica. Life was getting harder; no one could make any money anymore. Many Jews lived on a certain road; we were forced to stay within a five-ten mile radius of that road. We had a curfew...This situation lasted until December of 1942. Then the Germans gave us more restrictions. We were forced to live in a ghetto. Before, the neighborhoods had been slightly mixed. We had to register with the police. In February of 1943, transports started leaving Salonica every week.”
