Oscar Roth Collection Oscar Roth was born in Vienna, Austria in 1910. His parents were Hungarian émigrés. He attended medical school and married a fellow student. They emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York by ship on October 8, 1938. He enlisted in the United States military when he became a citizen in May of 1944. He went through France to Germany and Austria where he entered Mauthausen and Gusen concentration camps shortly after their liberation. Dr. Roth took many photographs which he kept in an annotated album, a copy of which was donated to Yale by his wife after his death. |
