Collection Development
One of Yale University Library’s major strengths is its expansive and
rich spectrum of resources and collections. Developing and managing the YUL’s
collections is primary responsibility of Collection Development and the Library’s
subject selectors. The Library recognizes the importance of cultivating the
knowledge and skills of staff that identify, evaluate, and acquire resources
in support of the teaching and research missions of the University.
Collection Development Council
(CDC)
The Collection Development Council (CDC) is charged with identifying, considering,
analyzing, and reporting issues pertinent to the growth and management of
the Yale Library collections. The CDC website offers access to agendas, meeting
minutes, and policy documentation.

Development Education Committee
The Collection Development Education Committee is charged with identifying
and providing tools and programming to meet the education and training needs
of both experienced selectors and staff new to collection development responsibilities.
The Committee’s website serves as a tool for new selectors, training
opportunities, and other useful links for selectors.
Committee
for Digital General Resources (CoDGer)
CoDGer Committee is serves as a resource in the development of procedures
for managing the selection and control of electronic resources. In addition
the Committee is charged with developing electronic resource informational
training for selectors in conjunction with the CDC Education and Training
Subcommittee.
