Minutes

Present: Kate Reynolds, Erika Heinen, Curtis Orio, Pina Scalzo, Lynne Fors, Judy Carnes, Dana VanMeter

Absent: Diane Turner, Karen Spicher, Barbara Rockenbach, Paula Ball, Kim Tran, Stephanie Schmidt

1. Demonstration:
Lynne Fors and Judy Carnes delivered their Train-the-Trainer for SCML use for those present. Judy presented the "big picture" and Lynne added a nice dimension of having participants follow her around as she did the "show & tell" for the room; Kate suggested that after the presenters describe and show procedures etc, that the presenter task the group, "Now you do it", and group participants to go through the same routine with eachother to reinforce what was presented re: use of the equipment.
2. Sub-Committee Status Reports:
1. Staff Resource Library: Curtis reported on some of the considerations etc; it would be better to have the subcommittee bring their findings to the next STOD committee for a fuller discussion; Barbara will be meeting with her subcommittee a few times before then.
2. Software Review: Erika and Karen have begun to review CD's for self-directed learning in the SCML and have devised a list of criteria against which to evaluate the content and delivery; it has been difficult for them to review the material because the SCML is currently not configured to allow them access; Kate will speak w/ Fred Martz about how to overcome this hurddle. Phase two implementation of the SCML requires that staff be able to use the multimedia capacity of the machines in a self-directed learning mode.
3. SCML Operations/Basic Skills: Lynn would like comments/suggestions to her quick guide to projector operation; Lynne will also develop a schedule of train-the-trainer offerings as well as a rotating schedule for instructors; the delivery will be in a sort of "buddy" system; the scheduled "instructor" will pair with the upcoming instructor: this will allow review for the upcoming instructor and offer an additional resource during the training session.
