The dates for the course are: Train-the-Trainer I April 7th or 28th, and Train-the-Trainer II May 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. Let her know as soon as possible if you would like to attend any of the sessions.
- Learning Center Discounts The library will be offered a 50% discount until Dec. 31, 2000 on courses offered by the Learning Center, a 25% discount for the year 2001, and after that library staff or departments will have to pay full price for learning center courses.
- Ergonomics Update Every approved request for keyboard trays has been filled. The next step may be an ergonomics committee in each department or getting the expert users involved in ergonomic concerns.
- Dan Seymour's Campus visit Dan Seymour, author of several books on customer service in higher and secondary education, is going to be at Yale on April 13th & 14th. On the 13th he will be at the Learning Center and on the 14th in the library.
- Library Committee Reports:
- WAG-TLC (Barbara) On April 4 2-4pm.TLC is hosting a talk on accessibility by Mike Paciello, with a follow-up open classroom in the SCML on Friday April 7 from 2-4pm. The open classroom will focus on practical ways to improve web page accessibility. Click Here (an introduction to html and web publishing) will be in the SCML on April 24, 25, 26 from 9-11am with an open-classroom on Fri. April 28 from 2:30-4:00pm.
- Systems (Stephanie) A new systems committee, the Workstation Productivity Development Team, will start to look at technology in the work environment and focus on improvements that can be made. Audrey Novak was appointed the project manager for ORBIS II.
- Staff Training and Development (Kate)
- The electronic course registration is delayed until a replacement has been found in ITS. Retreats and team building sessions have been held recently to look at process improvement in document delivery and in the selector to shelf process.
- Sub Committee Reports:
- Operation of SCML/Basic skill sets for library staff (Lynne) The subgroup has set up a schedule for training people on the use of the SCML. The documentation for the projector is finished and in the room. There have been some concerns about security, so the group is going to put tattle tape on the set of keys so they do not leave the building.
- Eval. of Multimedia Software/Dev. Library Trainers (Karen) The subgroup has created a form to evaluate software and Karen has been using the ETC to evaluate software we already own. She is interested in finding out if other committees are working on software evaluation.
- Staff Resource Library (Barbara) The subgroup has decided to pursue the L & B room in Sterling as a possible location for the staff library. Kate has been in touch with Danuta about the use of that room. There are still circulation issues that need to be worked out.
- Next Meeting either April 12 or 13 at the Adaptive Technology Lab at Southern University
