Project Review:
K. Reynolds reported the Library Staff Training web site is up and located
at: www.library.yale.edu/jobs/training.htm and announced that all sessions
for the Introduction To ORBIS are filled. More copies of the manual needed
to be made for new members.
-
The Acquisitions Support Group (ASG) met to discuss the Acquisitions Module,
which was in progress and a "cheat sheet" was being created. J. Murdoch and
J. Prochownik suggested that the Acquisitions Staff be tested on invoicing
and creating new ORBIS records, once the classes are completed. K. Reynolds
recommended to postpone the development of the ORBIS Acquisitions Module
and turn focus on the ORBIS follow-up training or something that can be completed
in a short time period.
Advanced ORBIS searching was still being developed. Eventually, all ORBIS
sessions will be conducted quarterly.
-
Staff Resource Time in the Electronic Classroom: format would consist of
drop-in sessions, by having individuals register, these sessions would also
allow individuals to identify resource people. An Excel video is available;
it was suggested that the committee plan time to "play" with these videos
for instructional purposes.
-
Staff Development Resource Library still needs a permanent home. There are
18 videos dealing with working issues (change, stress, procrastination) and
technology (Wordperfect, Netscape etc.) that will be housed in CCL. These
videos have a staff only restriction. Also, there are (40) books ready for
circulation, however, these books needs a destination. Discussions ensued
but now decision rendered.
-
D. Falvey recommended that e-mail classes be reinstituted because she has
noticed that users, in general, are not properly zoning their messages. K.
Reynolds & Committee decided to revisit this proposal.
-
J. GLover to meet w/ D. Nitecki re: upcoming presentation on what users think
of service points and what library staff think users think of servie points.
-
Technology Training Software Evaluation
-
K. Sprague & K. Reynolds-still evaluating products;
-
T&D Road Show
-
T&D members will visit, for 10-15 minutes, assigned departments to distribute
ORBIS material and get feedback. Members discussed what departments they
will choose to visit
Meeting adjourned at 11:55 AM. Next Meeting date to be announced.
Respectfully Submitted,
Tony Massarelli, Manuscripts & Archives
